The hardest part about living in Harford county was when we lived there for a couple of years my Mom and I went homeless. I did not know what was going on at that time, I remember the exact words that I said to my Mom, “How are we going to shower?” and “where are we going to sleep for the night?” I could tell looking into her eyes that she did not know how to answer me, so I left the conversation alone. Keep in mind I’m a teenager going through all of this stuff, and I don’t know how to handle the process of it all. If my Mom and I didn’t see one of our family members driving home, we would still be homeless to this very day.
Going into high school, I knew it would be a fun experience because I would get to learn about being a young teenager getting ready to take on the world soon. One thing that I knew I wanted to learn about was fitness. I’ve always had a big passion for it. In high school we did not learn much about the career path, so I made myself a goal to learn all about it and how I would turn it into a big business one day.
Going into my junior year, I started to pick up weights and take fitness seriously. One of my gym teachers was a former bodybuilder, and he took me under his wing so I could learn more. Since then, I have been teaching myself about the body parts and different types of workouts to do when it’s your first time working out. Going into 2014 I had my very first job at the YMCA, where I knew I could learn so much about fitness. This is also where I would find my very first mentor who would teach me the game and how to get stronger over the years. Then that night, I came home and sat down and told myself this is your career; take it and run with it. I trained six days a week when I started my new job and noticed the growth in my personal development. I noticed kids came to me and asked for advice on ways they can get stronger and start their fitness journey.
Flash forward to 2018, a light bulb went off in my head. I asked myself, how can I help people and provide good quality clothing as a business venture? By chasing my dreams to become a personal trainer? Then boom, it hit me running my own fitness business. That’s where FITGORILLA came alive to the world. I was very excited to start my journey as a fitness entrepreneur and show people FITGORILLA, the upcoming fitness brand. In the process, I created the name for my business, and it felt like it was the hardest part. I didn’t know where to start, so the first thing I did was go directly on youtube to learn more about running a business from scratch. I didn’t lose all the drive that was in me by starting FITGORILLA and pretty soon I became more knowledgeable about learning the type of document you need to have a business in your state and how much money name costs.
After that, I created a mission statement and the meaning behind the name. The brand of FITGORILLA is important because of the essence it opens and creates for everybody. Finally, I came up with the mission statement for the brand “Personal with poise with energy and strength”. Immediately I started to make the clothing for the brand, also showing the creative side of my business. Buying products from overseas and seeing them in person put a smile on my face. In the year 2020, I lost hope in the brand which was normal, but the way I gained my hope back was through my family. Yes, I know there was a pandemic but that didn’t bother me at all. I had to push through all the drama to continue to make my business global. Ever since I have been putting myself out there to the world about FITGORILLA, because we are all about giving people the best fitness apparel in the game.
Now in 2022 we have had nothing but success. This year we finally reached $1,000 in sales, have gained over 200 plus support from all people around the world, and plan to start our first fitness event in September. Building the business from nothing into something has been the best journey, and we are not even finished yet. We still have time to do what I said I’m going to do in the next five years. So I would say this for anybody out there who has a passion or a dream, never let anyone tell you that you can’t do anything in life, because you have so much time to grow into the person you want to be. We all get 24 hours in a day to achieve greatness so let’s get out there!
You may ask what’s a FITGORILLA? A FITGORILLA is a person who’s ready to be great, and is ready to go crazy in the gym, and bring out that inner animal inside of them.
To be a FITGORILLA you need to have a positive mindset where you can accept failure along the way, and there is no turning back to the past! Lastly, to be a FITGORILLA, you have to motivate yourself to be that better version you want!
So let’s get up, be a FITGORILLA and get out into the world with greatness!
