Just like high blood pressure, low blood pressure is also a common health concern. Low blood pressure or hypotension is referred to as low or decreased flow of blood to the heart, brain and other vital organs, which can make you feel dizzy, nauseated and confused. In some cases, low blood pressure can be normal and may not show any symptoms. However, when the low pressure causes symptoms then you must not take the situation lightly. If left ignored, low blood pressure can even lead to serious issues like shock, stroke, heart attack and kidney failure. To deal with the symptoms of low blood pressure here are some home remedies that you can try.
Salt is essential for your body to function properly, balance fluid level and prevent hypotension. Excess of salt intake is indeed harmful, but if you are suffering from the problem of low blood pressure then you have to consume more salt. So, when you start feeling dizzy or nauseated drink salt water. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a glass of water, mix it properly and drink it. The concoction will help to stabilise your blood pressure when it is low.
Rosemary essential oil has numerous health benefits. It contains camphor, which is effective in treating low blood pressure. The oil stimulates the respiratory system and promotes blood circulation. You can rub a few drops of rosemary oil on your palm and inhale it to manage your blood pressure level.
Drinking caffeinated beverages like tea or coffee can increase your heart rate, and raise your blood pressure level. You can have unsweetened beverages to help with your symptoms of low blood pressure. However, coffee helps in stabilising your blood pressure for a short period of time.
Munakka is an ancient home remedy, offering numerous health benefits. It improves blood circulation in the body, which further increases your blood pressure. If you are suffering from the problem of low blood pressure then soak some munakka overnight in water and then boil it with milk and have it in the morning.
Chewing 4-5 basil leaves may also help to deal with the symptoms of low blood pressure. The green leaves contain a high level of potassium, magnesium and vitamin C, which regulates your blood pressure. It also has antioxidant properties, which helps to manage cholesterol levels.
